Ever get that feeling that you have so much you could say, that you just don't know where to begin? That your words just don't do justice to the awesomeness? No? Well I have, and you're missing out. Last Saturday evening, I drove to meet the R family for an evening in-home video session. As I drove, I did my usual routine of talking to myself, recalling all the details I knew of who I would be seeing and what would be important to capture. I knew we would be playing a board game and getting ready for bed. I knew about the four sweet kids and their parents. I knew about Buddy the dog. I knew their favorite summer activities, their personalities, and that their faith is important to them. I knew that they sounded fun, and energetic, and loving.
Then I arrived, and they were all of that and just so much more.
It was fun and busy and of course a little chaotic, but it wasn't the planned activities that showed the love this family has for each other. It was how they spoke to each other. How Dad would tickle and get great laughs. The way the kids all kissed the baby goodnight. The breathtaking voice of Mom singing bedtime songs. The way Buddy, the 12 year old Jack Russell (who lost one eye to a tree branch and one to a porcupine!) happily rubbed all over my legs to greet me.
Our evening ran a little long but I was so happy to stay. They truly were that much fun to work with and it felt like leaving new friends.
Scroll down to enjoy a few photos from our evening, to get a little look into our time together, and to watch their video. I think it works better than my words, and I hope the song can be something they will sing together for years.
