One photographer, two kids, and a dog. Three days of driving, and two hotel stays. Two thousand and sixty some odd kilometers one way from Edmonton to our destination in WI. (In miles that's 1200 or so) Should be loads of fun, right? If the thought makes you want to go running and screaming, that's okay. I figure by the time we're halfway through Saskatchewan I might be, too.
All the preparation has kept me pretty busy behind the scenes this past week. I have been a little bit quiet on the social media front because of it, so I thought I'd share a few photos of our day before I head off to charge my batteries for tomorrow...both figuratively and literally.
I've been continually scooping up and stashing small items into my camera bag, hoping I won't forget anything. I'm bringing all my photography gear plus enough snacks to feed a small army, and there's an evergrowing pile of stuff waiting to be hauled out to the truck in the morning.
It will be just me doing the driving. My husband is about to start a work project that will mean long hours through the end of May. We decided it made the most sense for me to take the kids on an adventure as he won't be around much to help anyway. They've been helping me pack, and unpack, and repack.
Toys have been stuffed into backpacks for entertainment and I have a pile of DVDs waiting to be watched. I'm hoping they'll let me rotate them, but if past experience holds true I'll be hearing an awful lot of Dora and Planes Fire and Rescue.
Badger is looking stylish and ready to go.
We also had a small celebration today, because this week my not-so-little guy turns five years old. He requested sushi and ice cream cake for dinner.
Tomorrow, bright and early, we head out. I'll be documenting while on the road and can't wait to find new adventures and some fabulous locations and light. I've got a client shoot coming up in a few weeks that I am super excited for, too. My laptop is packed and ready to go so I can share throughout our visit, and I hope you'll join me!
