A few weeks ago, my husband was on the phone with his dad, who asked when we were next planning to visit. As my husband got off the phone, we gave each other that look that can only be described as "well, let's just go!" He already had some planned time off coming up so we set dates and packed everyone up for a little trip to Vancouver, B.C. The drive from our house in Edmonton to his parents' is around 12 hours. Of course, that's without generous stops to stretch and eat and burn some energy. We left early, drove all day, and got to our destination in time for dinner. The kids immediately settled in and found all sorts of treasures and toys they forgot they had at Grandma and Grandpa's house. My husband and I sat and discussed what time we think they might actually be ready to sleep, so that we might be able to, too.
We found a bit of time to sneak down to the beach so the kids could collect shells and come home with sand in their pockets. We also visited a local museum, the Gulf of Georgia Cannery, in Steveston. The kids played hard, were loved on by their grandparents, learned more than I ever thought possible about the process of canning salmon, and got far too much sun. A pretty perfect vacation, if you ask me.
Before we knew it, my husband and I found ourselves navigating the highways throuh the early morning fog as the kids snuggled back in their carseats for the long drive home.
Of course, the photographer in me couldn't help but document our journey. Join my family and I as we share our little trip and our everyday in-between moments with you.
